‘New Book Neon: A Light History’ Now Available

The American Sign Museum (ASM, Cincinnati) has announced the museum is offering copies of a new book, Neon: A Light History, for sale. The book was written by Dydia DeLyser and Paul Greenstein, who performed a significant amount of research while compiling the book, using Signs of the Times’ archived bound editions.

What sets this neon book apart from others that came before? None have been self-described as “a brief, but concise history of the neon sign beginning at the beginning, and covering scandals, murder, fascists, and forgotten inventors…”

The 88-page, softcover book is filled with bright photos of beautiful neon signs, as well as fascinating black-and-white historical images. Starting with how a famous Los Angeles sign’s life has paralleled the cultural effects of neon, the book then examines the history, introduction of, rise, fall and rebirth of neon over time.

It’s the kind of book you can pick up and flip through again and again. It’s available for sale in the ASM gift shop and also in their online store.
