Laguna Beach High’s girls water polo program keeps finding new ways to impress.
Senior Rachael Carver recently committed to Princeton to give the Breakers’ class of 2021 a school-record 11th college commitment and their first from the Ivy League.
Laguna Beach captured the CIF-SS Division 1 title last season with 11 juniors, so Coach Ethan Damato’s squad appears poised to go 11 for 11 in finding seniors collegiate homes.
All 11 are field players.
National Signing Day is Nov. 11.
Carver, the daughter of former Sunny Hills CIF-SS player of the year Rob Carver, is slick passing attacker who also excels on defense.
Last season, she lead the team in assists (60) and steals (41). The first-team All-Surf League selection finished fourth in scoring with 37 goals.
At Princeton, Carver will join former Laguna Beach teammates CiCi Stewart and Alana Evans and play for assistant coach Cara Borkovec, another Laguna Beach product.
Princeton, the CWPA tournament runner-up to Michigan in 2019, is loaded with O.C. players.
Laguna Beach’s other college commitments from the class of 2021:
Emma Lineback (UCLA), reigning O.C. player of the year
Nicole Struss (UCLA), reigning CIF Division 1 player of the year
Molly Renner (UCLA)
Emma Singer (Cal)
Jessie Rose (Cal)
Skylar Kidd (Indiana)
Imani Clemons (UC Santa Barbara)
Kenedy Corlett (UC Santa Barbara)
Mikayla Lopez (Loyola Marymount)
Ella Baumgarten (Marist)
