Santa Ana police asked the public Tuesday, Oct. 13, for help in tracking down a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
The attack took place near the 1400 block of North Main Street at about 12:20 a.m. Monday, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Carol Salvatierra said. The victim was walking in downtown Santa Ana when the suspect approached and walked alongside her with his bicycle, police said in a news release.
Once they reached the 1400 block of North Main Street, the suspect pulled the girl behind a building and attacked her, police said.
The suspect is a Latino man about 40 years old, 5-foot-6, with a slim build and medium-length brown beard and mustache. He was wearing a red-and-white checkered short-sleeved shirt, slim black jeans, dark shoes and a blue hat with a logo on it.
Anyone with information helpful to investigators was asked to call detectives at 714-245-8302 or email mnolan@santa-ana.org
