Coronavirus tracker: Orange County reported 152 new cases and no new deaths on Oct. 26

The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 152 new cases of the coronavirus on Monday, Oct. 26, increasing the cumulative total to 58,725 cases.

The county has had an estimated 2,655 cases in the last 14 days.

The county reported no new deaths from the coronavirus as of Monday, keeping the cumulative total to 1,447 deaths.

Of the 1,447 deaths in Orange County, 541 were skilled nursing facility residents, 115 were in assisted living facilities and five were listed as homeless.

The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:

  • 85 and older: 31% (470)
  • 75-84: 22% (313)
  • 65-74: 20% (286)
  • 55-64: 13% (201)
  • 45-54: 9% (114)
  • 35-44: 3% (37)
  • 25-34: 1.3% (20)
  • 18-24: <1% (5)
  • 17 and younger: 0% (1)

It is estimated about 89% of the cumulative reported cases, or 52,402 people as of Monday, have recovered. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.

The county also reported 162 patients in hospitals with the coronavirus on Monday. The peak for hospitalizations in Orange County was 722 on July 14. There were 59 patients listed in ICUs in Monday’s report.

The county update also reported 1,066,848 tests have been given for the coronavirus since testing began locally, and at least 5,498 tests were reported in the last 24 hours.

Data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
