The passenger of a vehicle that slammed into a tree in Fullerton died Monday, Oct. 19, and its driver was taken to a hospital with traumatic injuries.
The crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. near Euclid Street and Hill Avenue, Fullerton/Brea Fire Department Battalion Chief Jon Fugitt said. The driver of a wrecked Kia Optima was taken to a hospital in serious condition, while a man was trapped near the front passenger seat.
Crews used heavy equipment to free the passenger, but he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Fugitt said. His identity was not immediately released.
Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash, Fullerton Police Cpl. Billy Phu said. It was not immediately clear if drugs or alcohol were involved.
Authorities asked anyone with information regarding the collision to call Fullerton police at 714-738-6800.
